Elizabeth Brewer Mooty died Sunday, December 28, 2014 at the age of 96. Well done, good and faithful servant! A native Texan and graduate of Southern Methodist University, she was the wife of the late Alex Mooty, and is survived by her grateful family, sons, Michael and Bob; daughter in law, Sarah; soon to be daughter in law, Helen Beth; and two grandsons, Boone and Caleb. Elizabeth was a natural as a pre school teacher, a voracious reader, and was always ready to extend a hand to people who needed a friend. She had little tolerance for grammatical mistakes by those who should know better (like her children), and persons who were ungrateful, proud, or hard of heart. Small in size and large of spirit, she will be missed by family and friends and welcomed as an interesting, lively addition to whatever awaits us. at Timberlake Christian Church.

Thompson, Jr., Charles William SydnorFebruary 18, 1924 January 27, 2015Judge Sydnor Thompson was born in Baltimore on February 18, 1924 to Sydnor Thompson Sr. and Helen Layne Thompson. Raised a proud son of the Commonwealth of Virginia, Sydnor spent much of his adult life researching and celebrating his family's distinguished history in his home state. Graduating from Lynchburg's E. C. Army in March of 1943 and served with the 879th Field Artillery Battalion of the 69th Infantry Division. During the course of the war, he earned a Bronze Star for heroism and, as a member of the "Fighting 69th", was recognized as a liberator of Leipzig Thekla, a sub camp of the Buchenwald Concentration Camp. At the conclusion of the war, Sydnor studied at St. He was accepted to Harvard Law School and, in characteristic fashion, engaged the experience fully, excelling in his studies and serving on the Harvard Law Review, Volume 64. Graduating from Harvard Law in 1950, Sydnor was awarded a Fulbright scholarship, studying international law at Manchester University Law School and the London School of Economics.
