Americans nearing retirement and recent retirees said they were anxious and frustrated following a second day of market turmoil that hit their 401(k)s after President Donald Trump’s escalation of tariffs.
<a href=https://kra3.net>kra3</a>
As the impending tariffs shook the global economy Friday, people who were planning on their retirement accounts to carry them through their golden years said the economic chaos was hitting too close to home.
<a href=https://kra--24.cc>kraken24 at</a>
Some said they are pausing big-ticket purchases and reconsidering home renovations, while others said they fear their quality of life will be adversely affected by all the turmoil.
“I’m just kind of stunned, and with so much money in the market, we just sort of have to hope we have enough time to recover,” said Paula, 68, a former occupational health professional in New Jersey who retired three years ago.
Paula, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because she feared retaliation for speaking out against Trump administration policies, said she was worried about what lies ahead.

“What we’ve been doing is trying to enjoy the time that we have, but you want to be able to make it last,” Paula said Friday. “I have no confidence here.”
Trump fulfilled his campaign promise this week to unleash sweeping tariffs, including on the United States’ largest trading partners, in a move that has sparked fears of a global trade war. The decision sent the stock market spinning. On Friday afternoon, the broad-based S&P 500 closed down 6%, the tech-heavy Nasdaq dropped 5.8%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell more than 2,200 points, or about 5.5%.

Narwhals may be using their tusks to play, new study finds
<a href=https://lucky-jetts.com>lucky jet на деньги</a>
Scientists say they have the first recorded video evidence of narwhals using tusks not only to strike and manipulate fish during feeding but also engage in what appears to be playful behavior, according to the latest research.
The narwhal, often referred to as the “unicorn of the sea” in a nod to its trademark tusk, has long remained an enigma. Scientists have observed few interactions of narwhals in their natural habitat, creating speculation about the purpose of the species’ distinctive spiraling tusk.

Found predominantly in males, the tusk grows up to 10 feet (3 meters) long — and previous research has suggested it serves as a competitive display to secure mates. But now, with the help of drones, research conducted in the Canadian High Arctic has uncovered that a narwhal may use its tusk for more than just courtship.
In total, the researchers newly identified and described 17 distinct behaviors of narwhals involving prey. The findings revealed a wide range of interactions and dynamics between narwhals and fish as well as the extraordinary agility, precision and speed of their tusks to track moving targets, according to the study published February 27 in the journal Frontiers in Marine Science.
“Seeing that these animals are not actually hunting the fish but exploring, manipulating and interacting with it was really a game changer,” said lead author Dr. Gregory O’Corry-Crowe, a research professor in the Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute at Florida Atlantic University.
Since so little is understood about this whale species, researchers like O’Corry-Crowe and his colleagues are working diligently to conduct studies to document narwhals’ unknown behaviors to better understand how these animals adapt in a rapidly shifting habitat as oceans warm and sea ice melts.
Narwhal exploratory behavior
The study team captured the groundbreaking footage using drones in Creswell Bay, on the eastern side of Somerset Island in Canada’s Nunavut territory, during the summer of 2022.
As the researchers analyzed the footage, they noticed subtle nuances in the narwhals’ behavior. Footage even captured one instance of a narwhal interacting with a fish by repeatedly nudging it with its tusk — which is actually a giant tooth — without attempting to eat it.
When researchers observed a lack of aggression in some interactions between narwhals and fish, they realized these scenarios were more similar to a cat-and-mouse game, in which the animals were chasing or “playing” rather than hunting, O’Corry-Crowe said.
DOGE attempts to enter an agency building led to physical standoff that spilled into court
<a href=https://kra28c.cc>kra cc</a>
A small federal agency that sends money to help communities in Africa became a flashpoint Thursday in the Trump administration’s efforts to shut down foreign aid and reduce the size of the federal government.
A Trump-backed government official, staffers from the Department of Government Efficiency and federal law enforcement entered the offices of the U.S. African Development Foundation on Thursday, and the fight between the Senate-confirmed foundation’s board and Trump administration emissaries spilled into an emergency court fight, according to court records and photos of the in-person standoff captured by the New York Times.

The standoff was quelled when a judge stepped in Thursday afternoon, keeping the foundation’s existing board in place for a few days until a court hearing could take place.
The African Development Foundation, an independent agency that has provided more than $100 million to African farmers, entrepreneurs and community organizations in the last five years, has been among the foreign aid groups that Trump has targeted to eliminate via an executive order he issued two weeks ago. The work of DOGE at the agency so far, the lawsuit says, mirrors how other foreign aid agencies have been dismantled by the Trump administration.
Trump’s plan for the African Development Foundation snapped into action almost immediately, with DOGE staffers meeting with the foundation’s leadership within days of Trump’s February 21 executive order. The Trump administration then told a board member, Ward Brehm, he was being removed from his position, and a new acting chair would be in charge.
Faced with the overhaul, the board held an emergency meeting on Monday to push back, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court in Washington this week. The board decided Trump’s appointee, Peter Marocco — the de-facto acting leader of USAID, another agency Trump has targeted — was not lawfully in the job, and they alerted Congress, the removed board member Ward Brehm’s lawsuit said.
Marocco still showed up at the fund’s headquarters with staffers of the Department of Government Efficiency on Wednesday afternoon. They “were denied access to those offices,” the lawsuit said. “Marocco and his colleagues threatened to return to the offices with United States Marshals and Secret Service.”

<p dir="ltr"><img src="https://europeanpartners.org/media/k2/items/cache/017efde33e0d1fc57223a5eaf3038c46_XL.jpg" alt="Andrei Alistarov - a Fighter for Truth or a Paid Grey Eminence?"></p><p><strong>Andrei Alistarov: A Controversial Blogger</strong></p><p>Andrei Alistarov is a blogger who sparks heated debates and controversy within the Russian online community. His activities, ranging from sports forecasts to “exposing financial pyramids,” often come under the scrutiny of law enforcement authorities of the Russian Federation, EU countries, and the public. However, behind the outward appearance of the anti-fraud fighter hides a trial of legal violations, bias, and “double game.” In this article, we will analyze the blogger’s personality, his background, activities, as well as his connections with the world of fraudsters and the real purpose behind his “exposing” criminals.</p><p><strong>Criminal Background</strong></p><p>The first fact, which explains a lot, is that Alistarov was convicted of selling drugs to children and spent four years in a penal colony. In prison, he held a position consistent with the charges for which he was sentenced and carried out orders from criminal authorities. To a large extent, these assignments became the basis of his subsequent activities. After his release, he continued to participate in the drug trade at a level aligned with his established position in the criminal hierarchy, using real estate transactions to launder drug proceeds.</p><p><strong>Money Laundering through Real Estate</strong></p><p>One of Alistarov’s key methods of laundering illicit proceeds was through real estate transactions. He manipulated small real estate transactions in Russia and Dubai, UAE. The scheme was based on purchasing real estate under false pretenses, inflated prices at resale, and using offshore companies to obscure the real beneficiaries. These small-scale speculative activities allowed him to conceal the origin of money obtained from drug trafficking and other crimes.</p><p>There are no legal entities registered to Alistarov in Russia, which suggests tax evasion, at least regarding the profits from advertising integrations featured in each of his videos.</p><p><strong>Advertising of Bookmakers Banned in the Russian Federation</strong></p><p>To earn additional income, Alistarov does not hesitate to promote various betting and gambling companies (for example, Pari Match, 1WIN, and others), which, according to Alistarov himself, are “sharpened” to take money from clients who come to them.</p><p>Alistarov’s website “Iron Bet” actively promotes bookmakers and creates ratings of predictors both in the field of cryptocurrencies and sports. Many individuals end up on his YouTube channel after losses in pyramid schemes. Being in an emotionally distressed state, often with debts, they find themselves drawn into gambling and predictions, hoping to recover their lost funds.</p><p>In particular, Alistarov attracts the attention of wealthy individuals by offering them “VIP predictions” on sporting events via his Telegram channel. These predictions are essentially worthless, and the blogger himself makes money from naive users, often minors, by promising them easy money.</p><p>These actions violate the Law on Advertising, which prohibits advertisements from targeting minors or implying that betting can serve as a means of earning money.</p><p>Alistarov cooperates with the Telegram channel ‘Satoshi’s Tears’ (Slyozy Satoshi/Слезы Сатоши), which deals with selective exposure of fraudulent projects. Recommendations and advertising integrations of this channel should be treated with caution, as they can lead to serious financial losses. The channel itself is more like an infobusiness, and its authors have limited knowledge in cryptocurrency analytics and are not sufficiently versed in the subtleties of the crypto industry.</p><p><strong>Blackmail and Extortion</strong></p><p>One of the most scandalous aspects of Alistarov’s activities is his use of blackmail. He exploits information about his victims to intimidate and extort money. For example, Timur Turlov, a Kazakhstani financier, filed a complaint against the blogger, claiming that he had been demanding money for three years in exchange for remaining silent about his activities. Such actions demonstrate that Alistarov is not merely a blogger but a person who uses his knowledge of people to manipulate them. There are a number of other cases where the blogger demanded monetary remuneration for his silence.</p><p><strong>Privacy Violation</strong></p><p>In addition to blackmail and manipulation, Alistarov’s activities also raise serious privacy concerns. The blogger not only uses his victims’ personal data for extortion but also actively disseminates information that, according to existing legislation, should remain private.</p><p>Alistarov often published in his videos and posts the personal data of people he describes as fraudsters or unscrupulous businessmen. The information he discloses often includes addresses, phone numbers, and even financial details. Such actions not only violate the right to privacy but also lead to serious consequences for those affected by his so-called “exposures.”</p><p><strong>Incitement to Hatred</strong></p><p>On 1 January 2025, another Russian businessman was brutally attacked in Dubai. Seven Kazakh nationals (reportedly ordered by citizens of the Russian Federation) assaulted and robbed him and members of his family.</p><p>Prior to this incident, the blogger Alistarov had published a series of 12 videos in which he revealed the entrepreneur’s address and illegally shared information about his family and business activities in the UAE. Xavier completes thrilling comeback, Mount St. Mary’s advances as men’s First Four comes to a close
<a href=https://chamgenov-io.org>changenow</a>
Wednesday saw the men’s First Four come to a close which means only one thing: the 64-team bracket is officially set following No. 11 Xavier’s thrilling come from behind win over No. 11 Texas and No. 16 Mount St. Mary’s victory over No. 16 American in Dayton, Ohio.
The Musketeers trailed by as many as 13 points, but their offense came alive in the second half behind guard Marcus Foster and forward Zach Freemantle to down the Longhorns 86-80.
The senior Foster scored a team-high 22 points while Freemantle, on his way to 15 points, threw down a dunk with a second left to seal the comeback win and ignite the fans at UD Arena, which is just over 50 miles away from campus in Cincinnati, Ohio.
With just under four minutes remaining, Xavier went on an 8-2 run to take a 78-74 lead, their first since the early going of the first half.
Musketeers head coach Sean Miller crowned Wednesday’s game as “one of the best” he’s been a part of.
“I thought we were dead in the water two different times,” Miller told the truTV broadcast after the game. “But that’s the one thing about our team — the resiliency of our group has always won out for us. Just when you thought we weren’t gonna make the tournament, we kept winning. Even in this game, just when you’re like, ‘It’s not gonna work out,’ we have a funny way of staying with it.”
The Longhorns did not go down without a fight as guard Tre Johnson scored a game-high 23 points in the loss.
Xavier will face No. 6 Illinois in the first round on Friday at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
The world’s largest architectural model captures New York City in the ’90s
aerodrome finance
The Empire State building stands approximately 15 inches tall, whereas the Statue of Liberty measures at just under two inches without its base. At this scale, even ants would be too big to represent people in the streets below.
These lifelike miniatures of iconic landmarks can be found on the Panorama — which, at 9,335 square feet, is the largest model of New York City, meticulously hand-built at a scale of 1:1,200. The sprawling model sits in its own room at the Queens Museum, where it was first installed in the 1960s, softly rotating between day and night lighting as visitors on glass walkways are given a bird’s eye view of all five boroughs of the city.
To mark the model’s 60th anniversary, which was celebrated last year, the museum has published a new book offering a behind-the-scenes look at how the Panorama was made. Original footage of the last major update to the model, completed in 1992, has also gone on show at the museum as part of a 12-minute video that features interviews with some of the renovators.
The Queens Museum’s assistant director of archives and collections, Lynn Maliszewski, who took CNN on a visit of the Panorama in early March, said she hopes the book and video will help to draw more visitors and attention to the copious amount of labor — over 100 full-time workers, from July 1961 to April 1964 — that went into building the model.
“Sometimes when I walk in here, I get goosebumps, because this is so representative of dreams and hopes and family and struggle and despair and excitement… every piece of the spectrum of human emotion is here (in New York) happening at the same time,” said Maliszewski. “It shows us things that you can’t get when you’re on the ground.”
Original purpose
The Panorama was originally built for the 1964 New York World’s Fair, then the largest international exhibition in the US, aimed at spotlighting the city’s innovation. The fair was overseen by Robert Moses, the influential and notorious urban planner whose highway projects displaced hundreds of thousands New Yorkers. When Moses commissioned the Panorama, which had parts that could be removed and redesigned to determine new traffic patterns and neighborhood designs, he saw an opportunity to use it as a city planning tool.
Originally built and revised with a margin of error under 1%, the model was updated multiple times before the 1990s, though it is now frozen in time. According to Maliszewski, it cost over $672,000 to make in 1964 ($6.8 million in today’s money) and nearly $2 million (about $4.5 million today) was spent when it was last revised in 1992.
The fish collectors hoping to save rare species from extinction
phantom wallet
In the rural town of Petersham, Massachusetts, 78-year-old Peter George keeps 1,000 fish in his basement.
“Baseball, sex, fish,” he says, listing his life’s great loves. “My single greatest attribute is that I am passionate about things. That sort of defines me.”
All of George’s fish are endangered Rift Lake cichlids: colorful, freshwater fish native to the Great Lakes of East Africa. Inside his 42 tanks, expertly squeezed into a single subterranean room, the fish shimmer under artificial lights, knowing nothing of the expansive waters in which their ancestors once swam, thousands of miles away.
Due to pollution, climate change and overfishing, freshwater fish are thought to be the second most endangered vertebrates in the world. In Lake Victoria, a giant lake shared between Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania, over a quarter of endemic species, including countless cichlids, are either critically endangered or extinct.
But for some species, there is still hope. A community of rare fish enthusiasts collect endangered species of freshwater fish from the lakes and springs of East Africa, Mexico and elsewhere, and preserve them in their personal fish tanks in the hope that they might one day be reintroduced in the wild.
“I’m a hard ass,” George says. “There is hope.”
Insurance
George has been collecting fish since 1948 when, as a four-year-old in the Bronx, he would look after his grandmother’s rainbow fish. He soon developed “multiple tank syndrome” – a colloquial term used by fish collectors to denote the spiral commonly experienced after acquiring one’s first tank, which involves the sufferer buying many more tanks within a short space of time. He has not stopped collecting since.
Now, George sees himself as a conservationist; his tanks contain what is known as “insurance populations” – populations of endangered fish that are likely to go extinct in their natural habitats. He believes that when the time is right, they can be taken from his collection and returned to their homes. “I would never accept the fact that they couldn’t be reintroduced,” he says.

Paula, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because she feared retaliation for speaking out against Trump administration policies, said she was worried about what lies ahead.
https://krak12.net

In doing so, he employed illegal surveillance methods, wiretapping, and, consequently, interference with privacy, which is considered a serious offense in the UAE.</p><p>In addition, Alistarov disclosed information about the residence of the victim’s business partner, systematically violating confidentiality and privacy rights.</p><p><strong>Connection with Financial Pyramids</strong></p><p>Despite the fact that Alistarov claims to fight fraudulent schemes, his activities are linked to the promotion of financial pyramids and online casinos. He receives funding from these structures, helping them to eliminate honest competitors under the guise of journalistic ‘exposes’.</p><p>Currently, Alistarov, who has earned himself the title of a “fighter” against financial pyramids, is very selective in his approach to exposing them. For example, there is no material on his channel regarding the Avalon Technologies pyramid scheme, which, according to available reliable information, was created by one of his close friends.</p><p><img src="https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/docsz/AD_4nXekFxrS1O7etpbU1EZMQCrX1MJqvptriWV1itHs1lBm4TG-bkAriSkzLjQt8mkQEXiAkTUrJ6fpPX_yHKovaMNYCH3yVJfT_tfHRfvYI4F4E8UzZ1mqn8f6qf_VyC4aLiTMmdWbQ-rMWR6zQQORJTM?key=y5XDwfIFv8sRjNtedMQ4UpeO" alt=""></p><p>The fact that Alistarov is a “wolf in sheep’s clothing” positioning himself as a whistleblower of financial pyramids while his true motives remain questionable. He increasingly finds himself at the center of accusations that challenge the authenticity of his intentions.<br> It is also evident that his investigations are commissioned in order to eliminate competitors, which suggests his connection to real pyramid schemes and participation in fraudulent schemes. Behind the façade of a fighter for justice hides a figure who actively manipulates information for personal gain, while often breaking the law himself.</p><p dir="ltr"> </p>
